Lancer Wrestlers
Squeak Past Corry
The
Lancers managed to squeak past the Corry Beavers Wednesday evening
with the help of a forfiet, an injury default, pins by Ryan
Dunlap and unbeaten Pat Knaus and a major decision by Ward McCracken.
McCracken
has looked exceptional since his return to the lineup. Also
winning matches were Tim Shrout (4-0), Luke Harrison (8-2) and
Hayden Harrison by injury default. Pat Knaus and Ward McCracken
are the only remaining wrestlers with clean slates. Ward is
2-0 and Pat is now 7-0.
The
Lancers won't return to action again until January 2nd, 2002
when they meet the Bobcats at Seneca High School.

Wayne battled strong against highly touted heavyweight, Ron
Dombrowski.
Pat
Knaus remained unbeaten at 171. He now sports a 6-0 record.

Jr
High Wrestlers Notch First Win!
This
year's Jr. High team looks like it will continue a winning
tradition. The Jr. Lancers racked up an impessive 42-6 win
against Fairview in their first match of the season.
The
most exciting match of the evening was Kyle Goss's win over
Lohrer. Goss had lost to Lohrer in two previous meetings,
but was having none of it this time. Other than giving up
an opening takedown, Kyle completely dominated his Fairview
opponent on the way to an 8-4 decision.
Some
of the other Jr. High winners were: Andrew Wilson, Don Osinski,
Hadley Harrison, Brian Clark and Brandon Saraceno. The Jr.
Wrestlers next test will be at Iroquois on Thursday, Dec.
13th.
Lancer
Wrestlers Win 4th Straight Carr Tournament!
General
McLane won the Tom Carr Tournament for the 4th straight year,
thanks to gutsy performances by Pat Knaus and Wayne Gormont.
Knaus took first in the tournament, winning a 2-2 OT rideout
over Strong Vincent's Brian Bell in the finals at 171. Gormont
was nearly pinned early in his finals match, then rallied
back from a 5-0 deficit for a win by pin at 1:15.
Also
winning titles for the Lancers were Hayden and Hudson Harrison.
Freshman, John Heynoski did a great job, finishing second
in the tournament. Freshman, Brandon Stearns also turned in
a great performance, barely missing the finals with a 1 point
loss in the semis. He finished third in the 160 lbs. class
with a pin in his consolation match. Ryan Dunlap placed third
in the 152 class with a hard fought 15-13 OT win against Dorion
Biondo of Cambridge Springs.
Union
City came in a close second in the team race. Warren was third.
Cambridge Springs did surprisingly well in the tournament,
considering the fact that their wrestling program was scrapped
in the middle of the season last year. First year head coach,
Larry Cornelius appears to be doing a great job putting the
Blue Devil's team back together.
The
Lancers had a total of 11 place winners. The four Champs
were: Hayden Harrison, Hudson Harrison, Pat Knaus and Wayne
Gormont. Second place: John Heynoski. Third place:
Tim Shrout, Jake Keene, Luke Harrison, Ryan Dunlap and Brandon
Stearns. Fourth Place: Nate Saraceno.
