Hudson Harrison was ranked 4th behind Bryan Kuhn (McDowell), Travis Battles (Reynolds) and Brian Mulligan (Maplewood) at 145 lbs. Ryan Dunlap was in the number 6 spot at 152 lbs.

GM Wrestlers Finish Second At KSA Duals

The GM matmen lost their first matches of the year to a tough Brookville, PA team Saturday in Orlando, FL. McLane lost the 9 AM match with Brookville 37-28, then whipped Oley Valley, PA 44-28. That win put GM in the championship round against Brookville.

McLane led Brookville 16-11 after the 152 pound match. Tim Shrout reversed an earlier loss to Josh Kiehl by a 2-1 count to put the Lancers on top 3-0. Brookville won the next two matches, then Luke Harrison beat Andy Stele 7-1 to pull GM within five points.

Hayden and Hudson Harrison tacked on 10 more team points to make the score GM 16 Brookville 11. But the Lancers dropped the next 4 matches and saw their lead evaporate for good. Brookville led 32-22 after the 275 pound match.

Hadley Harrison, who lost his first match of the year earlier in the day to Enzo Giambanco on an overtime rideout, came back strong and beat his opponent by a convincing 7-3 score in the championship match. Jake Keene closed the dual out with an injury default win over Garret Whitney. Final score...Brookville 38 General McLane 31.

Union City's wrestlers also lost to Brookville on Saturday, but came back to finish 3rd in the tournament. Congatulations to Coach Ed Margie who earned his 300th coaching victory Thursday against Attica, NY.

Lancers Beat LeBoeuf

It's been six long years but the drought is finally over. The GM grapplers won 8 of 14 weight classes to down the Bisons 40-34. The match started at 130 where Freshman Brandon Saraceno wrestled tough against seasoned LeBoeuf veteran Karl Richardson. Saraceno lost 11-3 but won a moral victory by only giving up 4 team points.

Bison Nick Kaiser pinned freshman Kenzie Leehan, but then the Lancers began their roll. Luke Harrison put away a game Chris Romba at the 3:31 mark. Hayden followed with a fall over CJ Church at 2:38. Hudson Harrison tried everything to stick Scott Edinger, but Edinger refused to be pinned. The Lancers had to settle for 4 team points, but then Ryan Dunlap strected the lead with a pin of John Beatty at 160. McLane led 22-10 at that point and the next few matches would prove to be crucial.

Josh Grabski started slowly giving up a takedown to Sam Landis. He escaped immediately and the two battled evenly through the first period. Grabski was in the top position to start the 2nd period. He worked a body scissors on Landis and scored a fall at 3:27.

LeBoeuf's Ron Domkowski closed the gap by pinning Freshman Tim Stearns at 189. The most exciting match of the evening was at 215 where Travis Goss scored a takedown and back points against Jason Beer in the first period, to take a 5-0 lead. But, Beer fought back and turned the match into a real battle. Goss was ahead 8-4 when he gave up a reversal and back points to make the score 8-8. Goss took an 11-9 lead into the final seconds when Beer nearly scored a takedown, but time expired. Lancers 31 LeBoeuf 16...

Wayne Gormont scored a fall at 275 to make the score 37-16. Then freshman Hadley Harrison put the match away, by beating veteran Cody Hiner by a convincing 6-0 score. LeBoeuf stormed back with 3 consecutive pins, but it was too little too late.

The 2002-03 Lancers became only the second team in the last 12 years to beat the Bisons. CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!!!!!!!!

Lancer Wrestlers Crush Harborcreek 62-14

The G.M. varsity squad easily defeated the Haborcreek Huskies Wednesday evening. Pins by Luke, Hayden, Hudson and Hadley Harrison, Josh Grabski, Travis Goss and Tim Shrout helped the Lancers run up the score.

Luke Harrison had the evening's quickest fall in 17 seconds with his signature cross-face cradle. Cousin Hadley's 20 second stretch job was the second fastest, followed by Travis Goss's 50 second pin of Kyle Trimble.

The evening's most exciting match was without a doubt Ryan Dunlap vs. Harborcreek's Pino Scavella. Dunlap scored a quick takedown and put Scavella to his back in the process. It looked like Dunlap would get the fall when Scavella managed a reversal. Dunlap took Scavella to his back one more time late in the match, but came out on the short end of a 15-7 count.

Steve Scharrer wrestled a solid match in his varsity debut, beating Tim Blackhurst 11-8.

The Lancers will be back in action next Wednesday against arch rival Ft. LeBoeuf.
