MEDAL AT TROJAN WARS
Clay
Kimmy, Derek Dube, Matt Caro and Conner
Avery wrestled their way on to the podium in Chambersburg
at the MyHouse Trojan Wars this past weekend.
The tournament was loaded with 47 teams competing! Clay
Kimmy led the pack with a phenomenal performance.
He won six of seven bouts, including 4 pins and a technical
fall on his way to a 3rd place finish. Derek Dube
took the hard road to the medal stand. He won his first
match by fall but then lost to eventual champ, Tucker
Seidel of West Perry. He then put together a string
of four straight victories, including two additional
falls and a major decision to nail down a top six finish!
Matt
Caro and Conner Avery were also on fire this
weekend. They both had 8th place finishes in their respective
weight classes. Avery went 4-3 with 2 falls and
a major decision and Caro won 3 of his first
four bouts, including a major decision and a tech fall,
to guarantee himself a spot on the podium.
Hudson
Spires came up just short. He went 3-2, but suffered
a heart breaking, tournament ending loss in the blood
round. It was a tough tournament for Hudson who suffered
both of his losses by a single point to wrestlers who
placed. Logan Hayes and Mason McDonald
both wrestled well, also posting 3-2 records. They were
eliminated just two matches shy of the medal rounds.
Luke Gray went 2-2 and Lukas Kuffer went
1-2.
Notes:
It
was a very successful weekend for the Lancers. As a
team they finished in 13th place in the 47 team
field!
Hudson
Spires and Clay Kimmy are headed for 100
career wins and both wrestlers progressed toward that
goal this weekend. Hudson ran his career total to 92
and Clay, who's just a junior, now has 77!

PLACE AT KOM TOURNAMENT
Three
GM wrestlers placed this weekend at the always tough,
King of the Mountain Tournament at Central Mountain
High School. Hudson Spires wrestled his way to
a 3rd place finish in the 160 lbs. weight class, racking
up five wins. Clay Kimmy went 4-2 and took 5th
at 145 lbs. and Derek Dube nabbed an 8th place
finish at 172. Luke Gray, Mason McDonald
and Ethan Snyder all came so close, losing one
bout shy of the medal rounds.
Hudson
Spires went 5-1, winning his first three bouts before
falling to 3rd ranked Luke Sipes of Altoona in the semifinal
round. Spires bounced back to win his final two matches
in dominating fashion. Clay Kimmy also cruised
into the semifinals before losing to #2 Dalton Perry
of Central Mountain. Kimmy lost a heart breaking 3-2
decision to #13 Ian Longenberger in the consi semis,
but the bounced back with a 10-1 major decision to nail
down 5th place. Derek Dube went 4-3. He lost
his second match but then won three straight matches
to guarantee himself a spot on the podium. Derek posted
three pins and a major decision with those four victories!
Gray,
McDonald and Snyder came up just short
of medals and all three wrestlers suffered two losses
at the hands of ranked wrestlers. McDonald lost to #24
Zach Sherman in overtime, came back with three straight
wins and then was eliminated by #2 Tanner Guenot of
Blad Eagle Area. Snyder lost in the second round to
#4 Caden Judice of Bald Eagle, won twice and then lost
to #11 Drew Scherer of Central York in the blood round.
Luke Gray also suffered a second round loss to #21 Luis
Moya of Parkland and then to #12 Michael Johnson of
West Allegheny in the blood round.
Dom
Snyder and Lukas Kuffer contributed two wins
each to the GM cause. Josh Caro, Logan Hayes,
Matt Caro and Conner Avery also contributed
with one win each. The team improved on last year's
23rd place finish by finishing 18th this year. They
will be back in action on December 28th and 29th at
Chambersburg High School for the Trojan Wars.
The Lancers finished a very respectable 7th place in
the loaded 51 team field last December.
Notes:
The
countdown begins for two GM wrestlers who are working
toward 100 career wins. Senior, Hudson Spires
stands at 89 W's and Junior, Clay Kimmy has 71.

LANCERS
WIN SECOND STRAIGHT DUAL
The
GM wrestlers scored their second straight dual meet
win of the season at home on Wednesday evening. The
team rolled to 69-5 victory over the Seneca Bobcats,
taking 12 of 13 weight classes. Unfortunately, the Bobcats
only put six wrestlers on the mat with GM winning five
of those six contested matches.
Hudson
Spires and Derek Dube gave the Lancers their
only pins of the evening. Spires secured a 16 second
stretch job over Seneca's Conner Noyer and Dube scored
his pin with just 6 seconds remaining in his bout with
Donovan Husenic. Mason McDonald, Logan Hayes,
and Matt Caro all scored lopsided technical falls.
Winning by forfeit for the Lancers were: Ethan Snyder,
Lukas Kuffer, Clay Kimmy, Dillon Beitz,
Connor Avery, Luke Gray and Zach Greco.
The
Lancers are now 2-1 on the season. The team will be
back in action this weekend at the always tough, King
of the Mountain Tournament at Central Mountain High

GM ROLLS
OVER WILDCATS
The
McLane wrestlers traveled to Albion on Tuesday and came
away with a big, 55-12 win over Northwestern. Freshman,
Mason McDonald set the tone for team when he
upset two time state qualifer, Sierra Chiesa, in the
opening bout. The Lancers then proceeded to win the
next seven bouts to run up a 43-0 lead.

DROP OPENER TO RAMBLERS
A
short handed McLane wrestling team was no match for
Cathedral Prep in the Lancer's season opener on the
road Wednesday night. The Lancers only managed 9 points
in two victories on the mat. Luke Gray added another
6 for the Lancers with his forfeit win at 107 lbs.
Hudson
Spires put GM in front, 6-5 early in the dual with his
pin at 160 lbs., but it was all Ramblers after that,
except at 133 lbs. where Ethan Snyder posted a solid
7-3 decision over Amir Johnson. The Lancers will be
back in action on December 17th for their second dual
meet on the road at Northwestern.
