|
Jr. High Head
Coach: Brandon Saraceno
Brandon is a 2006 graduate of General McLane where he was a four-year
letterman on the wrestling team. He was a member of the 2002-2003
and 2005-2006 teams that both captured the District 10 Team Title.
He won the 130 lbs. District X AAA Championship as a senior while
being named 1st Team All Region.
He went on to graduate from Slippery
Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise
Science. He then attended The New York Chiropractic College where
he attained his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. He practices
in Erie, PA as the primary Doctor at Maximal Gain Chiropractic
Center.
Saraceno took over as head coach
of the middle school program in 2017. His team posted a 9-2 dual
meet record, were the Burrell Duals runnerups and the Ed Margie
Tournament Champions. Saraceno was named the District 10 AAA Jr.
High Coach of the Year for the 2017-2018 season.

Jr. High Head Coach and Assistant: CJ Barbaro
CJ Barbaro was born in Erie, Pa on January 9,
1973. Married to Kate Barbaro and parents Cosmo Barbaro and Charlotte
Barbaro. Brother Neil Barbaro, sisters Pam Barbaro and Chimene
Barbaro. During high school he was a 3 sport athlete in football,
wrestling and baseball. He was selected 1st team all-county -
all-purpose back, voted captain, of the county save an eye team.
1st team All-County wrestling 160 lb, district champion and PA
state qualifier. He was also received honorable mention all-county
for the catcher position in baseball. He graduated in 1991 from
General McLane High School. He was an assistant coach for the
7th and 8th grade team at General McLane for 2 years and was the
head coach for the 7th and 8th grade wrestling team from 2014-2017.
He had several state medalists and was voted Middle School
Coach of the Year for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.
He graduated summa cum laude earning a B.F.A in
woodworking from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1996,
again graduating summa cum laude from the Rochester Institute
of Technology, School for American Craftsmen in 1999, receiving
his M.F.A. in furniture design.
In 2006 he was commissioned by a designer in upstate
New York to build two one of a kind Steinway art case pianos.
Cosmo has worked at several universities across the south east
United State as a professor in Furniture Design/3D Design. Currently
he is the owner of Cosmo Barbaro Furniture www.cosmobarbaro.com,
where he focuses on one of a kind commissions and selling his
work through several Galleries. Cosmos work has been featured
in a variety of publications across the nation; in addition his
work has been in numerous galleries both nationally and internationally.

Jr. High Head Coach and HS Assistant: Curt Hendricks
Coach Hendricks is a 1988 graduate
of General McLane and former wrestler who joined the middle school
coaching staff in 2004. He coached the middle school program through
the 2011-2012 season and then joined the high school coaching
staff and was an assistant from 2012-2016.
Coach Hendricks was named the District
10 AAA Jr.High Coach of the year in 2007, 2009 and again in 2011.
In the postseason he coached 10 PJW state placewinners and 1 NHSCA
middle school National Champion. He is the proud father of Tyler
and Hunter who both wrestled at General McLane.

Assistant Coach: Kevin Maier
Assistant Coach, Kevin Maier is a
1998 graduate of Reading High School in Reading, PA. He was a
3 time State Qualifier, a 1997 PA. State Champion
at 125 lbs. and placed 3rd in 1997. He was also
a 1998 High School Wrestling All-American. His career
record as a High School Wrestler was an outstanding 128
wins-15 losses.
Coach Maier wrestled for Edinboro
University for two years, one of those as a starter. He graduated
with a B.A. in Communication Disorders. He also has a Masters
Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
Coach Maier brought years of "hands
on" wrestling knowledge and success to the McLane wrestling
program. Coach Maier was only with us for the 2004-2005 season,
but he did a great job. Good luck Coach.

Assistant: Kevin O'Meara
Kevin O'Meara is from Weymouth, MA.
He was a 4 year varsity starter, 3 time OCL All-Star and a Massachusetts
state champioin. He finished his high school career with an amazing
127-15 record.
He wrestled for 4 years for the Edinboro
University Fighting Scots. He was a 3 year college letterman and
E.W.L. Wrestler of the Week during the 2001 National Duals. He
graduated from Edinboro University.
O'Meara helped coach the 2002-03
D-10 Champion wrestling team.

Assistant: Mike
Leone
Coach Leone wrestled three years
of varsity for Santa Clara High School in California and was
a letter winner all three years. As a senior he placed 7th
in the California state wrestling tournament. He also wrestled
for Syracuse University for two seasons and
then transferred to Edinboro University where he competed for
one season.
Leone was an assistant at General
McLane for two seasons (1999-2001), before moving back to Syracuse.
Coach Leone did a great job working with the Lancer wrestling
team. Good Luck to Coach Leone in his future endeavors.

Assistant: Kevin Welsh
Coach Welsh was a great addition to the Lancer
varsity coaching staff. He was a graduate of Edinboro University
and earned a degree in Speech and Hearing. He was a four year
letter winner at Solon High School in Ohio. His overall high
school record was 114 wins-55 losses. He was a high
school state champion at 160 lbs. and a High School National
Champion.
As a wrestler for Edinboro University he was
a four year letter winner. His overall record was 121
wins-48 losses and he holds the number 5 spot on the all-time
wins list for the Fighting Scots. He was a Division 1
All-American as a senior finishing 6th at the NCAA
tournament.
Coach Welsh moved back to his hometown in the
Summer of 2001 and took a position as an assistant wrestling
coach.

Coach Kirdhay
was a 1999 graduate of General McLane High School and a graduate
of Edinboro University. He set several school records during his
high school wrestling career.
He was a three year Lancer wrestling team captain,
a 4-time section place winner, 4-time district 10 runner up, 2-time
regional place winner, 2-time state qualifier, 4-time All
Erie County League team member, and placed 3rd at the 1998-99
PIAA state tournament.
Coach Kirdahy was an assistant coach at Parker
Middle School from 1999-2004, returned in 2005 and coached through
the 2011-12 season. Mr. Kirdahy teaches in the McDowell school
district.
