4 EYWC/GM Junior
High Wrestlers Place at the PAJW Tournament
Four
McLane wrestlers placed at the 2013 PAJW Tournament
on Saturday at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex
and Expo Center in Harrisburg. Freshman, Justin
Miller placed 6th in the 13-14 age group,
140 lbs. class. Miller lost a close, 6-4 decision
in the preliminary round, but bounced back to win
4 straight matches before losing again in the 5th/6th
place wrestle off. Andrew Brest, 11/12-65 lbs.
also lost his first match 7-5 and then picked up 3
wins to make the medal rounds. Brest lost again in
the consi quarterfinals, but then finished the tournament
with a 9-5 win to nab 7th place.
Rounding
out the place winners were Tyler Myers (9/10-105
lbs.) and Jacob Lenhardt (13/14-252 lbs). Myers
and Lenhardt both placed 8th. Myers won his first
2 matches and made it into the quarterfinals before
losing to eventual runnerup, Nate Schon of Selinsgrove.
Tyler clinched a medal when he won his next bout by
fall. Lenhardt won his preliminary round bout by fall
and then lost in the quarterfinal round. He bounced
back with a win by fall in the 3rd consi round to
clinch a spot on the podium.
Owen
Watkins had some tough luck at the tournament.
Watkins made the quarterfinals before losing a close,
8-6 decision. Unfortunately he suffered an injury
and was unable to continue. Thankfully Owen is OK
and should be back in action next season.
